Innovative PeakPower High LDT Low GDD Ultrafast Mirrors from Edmund Optics® Win Innovators Award!

8/6/2024, Barrington, NJ USA   —

Edmund Optics®, a global manufacturer and solutions provider of optical technology, is proud to announce their PeakPower High LDT Low GDD Ultrafast Mirrors have won the Platinum-Level 2024 Laser Focus World (LFW) Innovators Award. This is the highest level of the Innovators Awards.

The mirrors utilize an innovative design approach to maximize the laser damage threshold (LDT) for ultrafast pulses. They have the highest available LDT for thin film coatings designed for 920nm ultrafast lasers, with LDT values exceeding 0.75J/cm2 for 25fs pulse durations at 920nm. This is the highest commercially available LDT for mirrors designed for this wavelength and pulse duration.

The PeakPower High LDT Low GDD Ultrafast Mirrors boast a near 0 fs2 group delay dispersion (GDD) over a broad spectral bandwidth, preventing chromatic dispersion and pulse spreading in the most demanding ultrafast applications. Their high reflectivity of Rs > 99.50% @ 830 - 1010nm @ 45° AOI ensures minimal loss while maintaining ultrashort pulse durations.

More applications are moving to the short pulse durations of ultrafast lasers due to their higher peak powers and increased precision for applications like materials processing and medical surgery. The PeakPower Mirrors drive further innovation in the ultrafast market, enabling the push to even higher powers and new application spaces.
