Edmund Optics^® employs a wide variety of metrology equipment to ensure the quality of the optical components and assemblies manufactured in our 8 global manufacturing facilities. We also conduct in-house testing of imaging performance and environmental testing for temperature, humidity, and shock and vibration. Edmund Optics has a proven track record of tailored testing for custom optical assemblies. Product testing and certification reports are also available upon request. Our metrology equipment, including interferometers, profilometers, spectrophotometers, and coordinate measurement machines (CMMs), is one component of Edmund Optics' strict global quality program.

Zygo^® VeriFire™ High Resolution InterferometersInterferometers are instruments used to measure small displacements, refractive index changes, and surface irregularities. They split light from a single source into two separate beams that travel different optical paths before recombining. Interference fringes are then formed, which provides information on the difference in optical path length between the two paths. Interferometers are often used to measure the surface accuracy of optics.

Park Systems XE-100 Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) Atomic force microscopes (AFM) measure a sample's surface topography with atomic resolution by scanning an extremely small and sharp tip across the surface. This 3D reconstruction of the surface is used to quantify surface roughness.
Shack-Hartmann Wavefront Sensors (SHWFS) Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensors (SHWFS) use an array of microlenses to measure the transmitted and reflected wavefront error of an optical component or system with high dynamic range and accuracy.
Cavity Ring Down Spectrometers (CRDS) Cavity Ring Down Spectrometers (CRDS) make high sensitivity loss measurements for both reflective and transmissive optics by measuring the decay of a laser pulse sent into a resonant cavity bounded by two highly reflective mirrors.
